Transfer ribbon - wax/resin - 90mm x 300m

This wax/resin ribbon is the middle ground between wax and resin: more resistant to scratches, moisture and light chemicals than a pure wax ribbon, but more affordable than a pure resin ribbon. Not sure whether to choose wax or resin, or want a label that can take a bit more without the higher price of resin? Then this is a good compromise. This ribbon measures 90mm x 300m.

The difference with pure resin lies in the level of protection: wax/resin suits coated paper and some plastics, and withstands light friction and occasional contact with moisture or chemicals. For labels under heavy strain, such as outdoors, on chemical drums, or on pure plastic packaging, pure resin is still the better choice. Is it simple labels without special demands? Then wax is more affordable.

This ribbon is used together with a thermal transfer printer: the printhead melts the wax/resin coating on the ribbon onto the label, giving a sharp print that holds up better to wear than a pure wax ribbon.

My label web is narrower than 90mm, can I still use this ribbon?
<p>Yes, technically. A ribbon wider than your label web still prints fine, since only the part covering the label web is actually used. The downside is that the unused width is wasted, which adds up in material cost over large volumes.</p><p>For best cost-efficiency, choose a ribbon width just a few millimetres wider than your actual label web, including the backing paper, rather than one significantly wider like this 90mm option.</p>
Can I use this ribbon if my printer supports a slightly different ribbon width?
<p>It depends on how different. Printers generally accept a range of ribbon widths up to their maximum, as long as the ribbon isn't narrower than your label web. So if your printer's maximum supported width is 90mm or more, this ribbon will physically fit and work.</p><p>If your printer's maximum is below 90mm, this ribbon won't fit the ribbon holder. Check your printer's manual for its supported ribbon width range before ordering.</p>
