This label is made specifically for use in the freezer: it stays stuck at temperatures down to -20°C and stays legible, even if the label gets wet or fogs up with condensation. A standard paper label for the Dymo 99012 will quickly peel off or fade in the freezer due to condensation. This variant is made to handle that.
These labels are ideal for anyone applying larger labels to products going into the freezer: think of boxes in a frozen goods warehouse, shipping labels for frozen shipments, a meal-prep or catering business freezing meals, or a lab storing samples at -20°C. If you mainly use labels at room temperature, for example as an address or shipping label, the standard 99012 is more affordable and works just as well.
The difference is in the material: where the standard label is made of paper, this variant is made of polypropylene (PP). That material doesn't absorb moisture and doesn't tear at low temperatures. The adhesive layer is a special permanent hot-melt glue that keeps holding even in cold, damp conditions. One thing to note when applying: do so on a dry surface free of frost or ice, at a temperature of -15°C or higher. Apply the label to the product before it goes into the freezer, and it will then stay put down to -20°C without issue.
Each roll contains 260 labels measuring 36 x 89 mm, the same as the regular 99012. The labels are direct thermal, so you don't need ink, ribbon or toner, just a Dymo LabelWriter (except type 550 and 5XL). Like our other labels, they're 100% BPA-, BPS- and phthalate-free, making them safe to use around food too.
