Description

This resin ribbon is the most durable choice for thermal transfer printing, meant for labels that take a beating: exposure to chemicals, heat, outdoor weather, friction or moisture. Think of labels on chemical drums, industrial rating plates, outdoor storage, or labels on plastic (polypropylene/polyester) packaging. Then this is the right choice.

The difference with wax lies in the composition: resin is far more chemical- and heat-resistant, and also adheres well to synthetic (plastic) labels, where wax doesn't hold up well enough. Do you mostly print on plain paper indoors, without any special demands? Then a wax ribbon is more affordable and works just as well.

This ribbon is used together with a thermal transfer printer: the printhead melts the resin coating on the ribbon onto the label. That gives a print that resists scratches, solvents and extreme temperatures, and stays legible and scannable long-term, even under harsh conditions.

Universally compatible: suitable for most label printers that support this ribbon format, such as Zebra, Honeywell, TSC, Godex, Citizen and more.

Frequently asked questions
Is this ribbon suitable for outdoor use or damp conditions?
<p>Yes, resin's resistance to moisture and temperature swings makes it a common choice for labels used outdoors or in damp environments, as long as the label material itself is also rated for that use, such as a weatherproof synthetic stock.</p><p>How well a specific label holds up outdoors depends on the combination of ribbon, label material and adhesive, and on how intense the sun, rain or temperature swings are. For demanding or long-term outdoor exposure, check the specifications of your label material alongside this ribbon.</p>
What's the difference between this resin ribbon and the wax/resin version of the same format?
<p>Both are 90mm x 300m, but the ink formulation differs. This resin ribbon offers the strongest resistance to chemicals, heat and abrasion, suited to demanding conditions and plastic labels. The wax/resin version is a step down in both durability and price, still good on coated paper and many plastics, but not as robust under harsh conditions.</p><p>If your labels face chemicals, heavy wear or long-term outdoor exposure, this resin version is the safer choice. For everyday coated or plastic labels without extreme demands, the wax/resin version saves some cost.</p>
