Think of labels on chemical drums, industrial rating plates, outdoor storage, or labels on plastic (polypropylene/polyester) packaging. Then this is the right choice. The difference with wax lies in the composition: resin is far more chemical- and heat-resistant, and also adheres well to synthetic (plastic) labels, where wax doesn't hold up well enough. Do you mostly print on plain paper indoors, without any special demands? Then a wax ribbon is more affordable and works just as well.
